cessorprovideanexcellentmarketforrecyclingprogramsthatdonothavethevolumeorabilitytoproduceglassfordirectmilldelivery.Glassbeneficiationplantsusesop
histicatedopticalsortingmachinestoseparatetheglassintothethreecolortypes.Theymayalsox-raytheglasstodetectanyrocksorceramicswhi
charethenremoved.Magnetsandeddycurrentseparatorsareusedtoremovedmagneticandnon-magneticmetalcontaminationfromcapsandlids.Thee

erecycledglasscanbeprocessedatalowertemperaturethanblendingnewglassfromrawmaterials.Also,recycledglassisusuallyclosertothebottleplantsthantheso
urcesofpotash,themostexpensivecomponentinglassbottlesandjars.Bout32%ofenergycanbesavedbecauseofitslowmeltingpoint.Itiseasiertoman
ufacturenewglasswarefromrecycledglassthanfromrawmaterial,whichcanalsoreduceairpollutionby20%,andwaterpollutio
nby50%.
