ymers(聚合物).Thesepolymersarethenmadeintofibers,pavingthewayforarangeofinnovativefabrics.However,shiftingfr

omlabtopracticalapplicationpresentedchallenges.In2015,SpiberpartneredwithTheNorthFaceJapantoproducealimited-editionrunof50“MoonParka”jack

etstocelebratethe50thanniversaryofthemoonlandings.Butduringthedesignprocess,theteamdiscoveredthatspidersilkbecamesmallerwhenexposedtowater,a

ndhadtotransformtheproteintomakethefibersuitableforanoutdoorjacket,whichtookthemfouryearstoperfect.Currently,thecompanyusessugarcaneandcor

nforitsfermentationprocess—cropsthatuselargevolumesoflandandchangefoodresources.Toreduceitsenvironmentalimpact,Sp
