.“Thisisquiterelevanttotakingadvantageofanewsourceforwater.”Otherkindsofmaterials,suchassaltsorhydrogels,can

notoperateinextremeweatherconditions,inanenergy-efficientmannerandwithahighcapacityallatonce.ThenewMOF-poweredharvesterscanbeanexceptionallypow

erfultooltoaddresswatershortageissuesrelatedtoanythingfromdrinkingwatertoagriculture.Thistechnologycanalsobeusedtosecurepurewaterinareas

wherewaterisplentifulbutnotclean.It’salsoextremelyefficientatharvestingwater,releasingasdrinkingwater85to90percentofthewateritcapturesasatm

osphericvapor.Itharvestedupto285gramsofwaterperkilogramofthemetal-organicframeworkinaday,theamountof

acupofwater.It’salsosmallerthantheearliertypebutitisevenmoreenergy-efficient.Itproduced200gramsofcleanwaterpersquaremeterofwate

rvapor,morethanthreetimesthewaterproductivityrateoftheearliertype.Therewilllikelybefurtherdevelopmentsinefficiencyandsizef
