eisverydifferent,soone’sfirstlanguagecanaffectlearningasecondlanguage.Thegreaterthedifferencesbetweenasecondlanguageandour

firstlanguage,theharderitwillbeformostpeopletolearnasecondlanguage.ManypeopleanswerthatChineseisthehardestlanguagetolea

rn,possiblyinfluencedbythethoughtoflearningtheChinesewritingsystem,andthepronunciationofChinesedoesappeartobeverydifficultformanyforeignlearners.

However,forJapanesespeakers,whoalreadyuseChinesecharactersintheirownlanguage,learningwritingwillbelessdifficultthanforspe

akersoflanguagesusingtheRomanalphabet(字母).Somepeopleseemtolearnlanguageseasily,whileothersfinditverydifficult.Teacher

sandthecircumstances(环境)inwhichthelanguageislearnedalsoplayanimportantrole,aswellaseachlearner’spurposeforlearn

ing.Ifpeoplelearnalanguagebecausetheyneedtouseitinwork,theyoftenlearnitfasterthanpeoplestudyingalanguagethathasnodirectuse

intheirday-to-daylife.Nolanguageiseasytolearnwell,thoughlanguageswhicharerelatedtoourfirstlanguageareeasier.Learningacompletelydiffere

ntwritingsystemisahugechallenge,butthatdoesnotnecessarilymakealanguagemoredifficultthananother.Intheend,itisimpossibletosaythatt
