art,andfinallyenjoyedsuccessinhispoeticaldrama.Comparedwithhisdramaticworks,Yeats'spoemsattractmuchadmiringnotice.Thesubjectmatte
rincludeslove,nature,history,timeandaging.ThoughYeatsgenerallyreliedonverytraditionalforms,hebroughtm
odernsensibilitytothem.Ashisliterarylifeprogressed,hispoetrygrewfinerandricher,whichledhimtoworldwiderecognition.Hehadnotenjoyedamajo
rpubliclifesincewinningtheNobelPrizein1923.Yet,hecontinuedwritingalmosttotheendofhislife.HadYeatsstoppedwritingatage40,hewouldprobablynowbevalue

tellwasinterestedinastronomy,hedidnotstartoutasaspaceartist.Asayoungmanhestudiedarchitecture—theartandscienceofdesig
ningandmakingbuildings.In1938BonestellbecameaspecialeffectsartistinHollywood.Itwasherethathelearnedhecouldimprovehispaintingsbyfo
llowingthemethodsusedinthemovies.In1944,apopularmagazinepublishedaseriesofBonestell'spaintingsoftheplanetSat
urn.HedrewSaturnasifitwereseenbysomeonestandingoneachoftheplanet'smoons.Theresultsweredazzling.Withinafewyears,Bo
nestell'sartworkwasappearingregularlyinmagazinesandbooksonastronomyandspaceflight.ManyofBonestell'sartworkshadbeenrightallalong.Butthe
biggestsurprisewastheMoon.SomeoneaskedBonestellwhathewasthinkingwhenhesawthefirstpicturesfromtheMoon.“IthoughthowwrongIwas!”hesaid.“Mymountainswere
